The Secret Diary of Elisabeth Leseur

Elisabeth Leseur

Over a century ago, Servant of God Elisabeth Leseur began a secret spiritual journal recounting her struggles  to sanctify her life as a married woman living in the world. She used her atheist husband’s hostility to her Catholic faith as a means to grow closer to him and to God, and silently offered up her daily activities and intense bodily suffering for her husband’s conversion.  After her death from cancer in 1914, her husband discovered her journals, returned to the Church, and eventually became a priest.  “The Secret Diary of Elisabeth Leseur” contains her journal, resolutions, letters and other writings, and offers a fascinating and inspirational portrait of her life of heroic virtue.
